Lookin' fine in '09! =]

Hey all!

Long time no see eh? I hope you all took the time to really bask in the greatness that was Winter break and really got the chance to unwind before you started school yesterday. And on that note, how was it? =] I for one couldn't wait to get back to school again, because that means I get to see all the wonderful people I've been missing for the past I don't know how many weeks. . . you guys!

Over break a few of our members stayed involved and helped out with decorating Rose Parade Floats as well! Here's a quick picture of the awesome job they did on South Pasadena's Float! =]

Needless to say, it was a blast! And I really hope that you all get a chance to help out in the future (its well worth your time =]).

With that said and done, unfortunately there is no meeting tonight but I'm sure I'll be seeing you all next week, Tuesday, January 13th 2009 at 6:30pm in Life Sciences 1500 for our first general meeting of the quarter!

See ya soon! ;]

Vegas was off the hook!

Earlier this afternoon we came back from an amazing weekend of service and fun with members of the Circle K of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Luckily we made the entire trip without any major car issues (Yay! My car made it this time! =D) and we didn't hit much traffic on the way up or back.

When we got to Vegas we were greeted with warm, open arms (and FRIED CHICKEN) by UNLV at the home of one of their AWESOME members, Joe (sp?). I'd like to personally note that the fried chicken was superb and kudos to the chefs Sky(sp?) and Kevin and to anyone else who helped out. We rounded out the rest of the night getting to know our Vegas counterparts a little better and playing board games all night long.

The following morning we woke up bright and early to head to a nearby park to do a cleanup for any trash left behind by patrons. ...unfortunate to say, but Las Vegas has some pretty well kept parks so there waaasn't much trash for us to pick up but we made do with what we had and made an impromptu social afterwards. Luckily we had a football and Frisbee to toss around and nearby a music and dance group was practicing their routine which was quite intriguing to say the least. =]

After all that was said and done, we went to a nearby Japanese restaurant for an eat for service which wasn't too bad if I say so myself (I'd recommend the udon! ;]). Following this was our Divisional Council Meeting led by our own Andrea Nguyen. We discussed important topics like the upcoming Fall Training Conference and our progress on goals made as a division for the year. Both UCR and UNLV will have 25 members heading up north November 7th-9th to represent and we plan to sweep any competition and show what it means to be a part of the best division in this district, DESERT OASIS! Haha, =]

Closing out the night was a "Strip Search" in which teams of UCR and UNLV members scoured the Vegas strip to find and take pictures of various landmarks based on clues given to them. To be honest, I'm not really sure who won but all involved seemed to have a good time enjoying the scenery and great company.

All in all, I just hope that everyone involved got the chance to meet someone new and had a chance to experience something they may not have normally had the opportunity to do. Be sure to look out for more district and divisional events to meet more Circle K'ers like yourselves!

Now time to catch up on some much needed sleep! ~_~;

Wow! What an amazing first week it's been.

Starting off the week with nearly 90 people attending our first general meeting, its no wonder that the rest of the week has been equally as spectacular. Thanks to all those who attended last week's meeting and I'm reeeally hoping that we see a lot of the same faces at tonight's meeting 6pm in Commons 268! We'll be recapping the past week's events, giving info on new upcoming events, and voting on this year's club t-shirt! Don't miss it! ;]

For those of you who attended the Special Olympics volunteering and the impromptu social that was the TV taping, pleeease share your experiences with those around you if you had a good time! The best way to make friend in this club is to share these experiences and get others to experience them with you the next time there comes opportunity. And by all means, if there's something you didn't like, or have an idea to make things better, shoot me an email or something!

I'd also like to give a huge shout-out to those of you who attended our K-Rock! charity benefit concert last Saturday. You have no idea how much your attendance means not only for our club, but for the thankful children at the Loma Linda Children's Hospital. We'll soon be in the process of deciding on what the money gets used for and how it'll directly better the lives of the patients of the hospital so be on the lookout! =]

See you tonight!

Hellooo World!

Well, this is my first blogpost using the blogger client so I'm not too sure on all of the intricacies to this setup but really, what could be so hard about it? ;] I actually set up this account a few days ago, but only recently conjured up the time to post something on here.

Life's been pretty rocky lately, what with summer school giving me hell and money being a major issue, but I do have to say, seeing The Dark Knight last night at the midnight showing in Ontario was a definite highlight of my week. =] Needless to say, the movie was AMAZING and most notably, Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker really did carry the movie. For the majority of the movie, I found myself rooting for the Joker rather than Batman because of the how wonderful his character was. I really want to go see it again... =[. Maybe I'll see it in IMAX this next time! XD

Despite it being summer, Circle K continues to live on, and myself as well as the other officers continue to work diligently to prepare for the upcoming school year which is approaching REALLY fast. I've still got a lot to do in order to make sure things are in line for the fall and we don't miss any opportunity to make this an even more majestic year than years past. Personally, I've got really high hopes this year for our club ( 30 members at FTC! ;] ) and I've got no doubt in my mind that we can achieve all the goals we've set. =]

That's all for now! Until next time... =]

PS - Send me your T-shirt designs! =)
